This Sunday I go to a meetup at the Kyoto Laundry Cafe. It’s a bit crowded, there are one or two Frenchmen and a few French-speaking Japanese who seem happy to practice. Other expats as well. People of all ages.
I talk to a Japanese guy who I met yesterday in another meetup… Yesterday again, two locals told me about foreigners working at my company, who I had met the week before.. I have the feeling that the expat community and its supporters is a small world. Maybe there’s more people in Osaka ?
Anyway, back to today’s meetup. The cafe owner makes an announcement 10min before the end of the event: there will be a Halloween party at some point in october with cosplay. Why not ! Then she tells that she is going to see some live music just after the meetup, and that we can follow her since the venue is a 10min walk. Why not !
Some of the meetup participants follow, and we end up in Live House Gattaca, a tiny concert hall on the 2nd floor of a building (it looks like we are underground though). Four rock bands are playing tonight. The first band has a good energy and their songs are melodious: Youth. The second one is good as well. Surprise for the third one, the singer is the cafe owner ! I missed that part in the announcement… In fact, it’s a one-time band. The last band was the most awaited by the audience, but I find it’s the least memorable.
Ramen while going back home. Going with the flow is nice.
